The automaton was a seven month passion project built in the free time of my sophomore year at Cornish. The sculpture consists of an animated figure that performs a classic teleportation illusion moving the heart from his chest to the table in front.
The sculpture was built without any 3D software. The materials consisted of MDF, Steel, Acrylic and various hardware components.
The design involved Initial sketching and prototype models to proof out the mechanisms using LEGO bricks and cardboard mockups.
Manufacturing this sculpture consisted of designing Illustrator files for laser cutting, lots table saw work and various power tool usage for assembly.
