Roller Coaster Seat

Intent.

Growing up, riding roller coasters was one of my favorite activities. With this project I wanted to design my own coaster restraint inspired by the style of McLaren race cars.

Reference.

I chose world renowned coaster manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard as reference for my roller coaster seat.

Safe. Comfortable. Aerodynamic.

Side profile mimics the elegance of the front of McLaren’s cars.

All electrical wires feed through a silver shroud representing the complicated exhaust piping on high performance race cars.

Details.

Black grooves in the seat and restraint drain sweat and rainwater throughout the day.

Ergonomic seat walls keep the rider comfortably bolstered in place.

Safety buckle to ensure restraint is within safe operating range.

Features two handles for riders to grasp during G-forces.
