Honorable Mention.

Opportunity.

When most consumers upgrade their laptop they also buy a new case, either because its worn out or doesn’t fit. What if that didn’t have to be the reality

Project Video.

Needed to be slim and easy to carry on its own or in a backpack.

Had to fit wide range of sizes without compromising Functionality.

Sustainability.

Sustainable design was the core of this project. It started with purchasing a generic laptop case as the benchmark product.

Benchmark Product.

The Terra Thread Erdig laptop sleeve.

Teardown.

This product was chosen because it offers a sustainable option for a generic laptop sleeve. It has one main loose fitting sleeve sold in two sizes. The side pocket turns into a jumble of keys and cords.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

After investigating the benchmark product I made a list of design priorities for OneCase.

Snug fit for most laptop sizes, Long lasting, Intuitive and Elegant use, Works alone or in backpack, Unfolds with simple workstation capabilities, NO ZIPPERS!

Strategy.

Utilize reclaimed materials. Many industries generate high-performance waste with remaining value. These materials will be prevented from entering landfills and ensure that the product lasts for many years.

Used Racing Sail Fabric

Racing laminate sails last anywhere from 2-5 years based on frequency of use and sailing environment. Subtle changes to the sail can cause significant performance impact requiring replacement sooner than recreational sails.

Used T-Shirts

With the Meteoric rise of fast fashion brands, roughly 92 million tons of clothing end up in landfills annually around the world.
